Hotel haiku

checking in
that hotel smell
greets me
****

first one way
then another
the plastic key
****

hotel room
unpacking
memories
****

always
one light
stays on
****

all packed
but
one last look
my son
now opening jam jars
for me

at last
the ink
is running out

at the gatepost
an old lady
watching...
****

the old lady
watching
her son grows smaller
****

watching
the old lady
as her son gets smaller
****

watching
the old lady
watching her son go
global warming
the ducks
arrive early
You’ve Been Framed
laughing...
but why?
everywhere at once
a woodpecker
or is it two?
